Humanitarian EffortsThank You for Making the Holidays Happier for Those in Need This year DMG physicians and staff donated an entire truck load of toys, hats & gloves, gift cards and other gifts as part of DuPage Medical Group’s Charitable Fund initiative to support the Family Shelter Service Holiday Shoppe. This week the Holiday Shoppe is expected to help over 100 moms shop for gifts for an estimated 1000 children. For many of these moms, displaced and struggling from a domestic violence experience, the Shoppe will serve as their only means of providing gifts for their family. Thank you to our patients who so generously supported this effort in our office!

Congratulations to Dr. Bhatia and the staff who participated this past weekend in the walk-a-thons for the American Heart Association and the Susan G. Komen Race for the cure. These dedicated walkers raised much needed money for important research supported by these two groups. We are proud of our walkers!

On Saturday May 7, 2011 nearly 30 patients benefited from the new “Five in Five” healthcare initiative sponsored by the DuPage Medical Group (DMG) Charitable Fund to support the DuPage Community Clinic (DCC) in Wheaton. This initiative will bring five DMG specialty groups to DuPage Community Clinic within the next five months to see a backlog of patients waiting for specialty care. The first free clinic was hosted by the department of dermatology at DMG under the direction of Dr. Ashish Bhatia and Dr. James Herrmann and their nursing staff, Jackie Christopher and Sarah Ahearn, who volunteered to take care of these patients.
The staff of The Dermatology Institute of DuPage Medical Group in Naperville have contributed to the Food Drive to support People’s Resource Center, Westmont Food Pantry. We began our collection on November 4, 2010 and as of today we have delivered a total of 48 bins of food to the Westmont Food Pantry. On Saturday, April 3rd, Dr. Ashish Bhatia and physician's assistant Christopher Arico, volunteered their time at an underserved clinic on the west side of Chicago. This population can wait up to a full year to be seen by a Dermatologist. Dr. Bhatia and Chris treated minor problems such as acne and eczema as well as complex disorders such as hidradenitis suppurativa and folliculitis decalvans. They plan to volunteer at this clinic again very soon.
